MHK [MadHead Kitchen] is a Worl Fusion record lable but not in the conventional sense. Rather than a lable that dictates to and controls the artist, MHK is an umbrella for a small collective of independent artists with common ideologies about the music industry. MHK acts both as a PR support system to ensure that the collective's work is accessed by the widest possible audience and as a device to facilitate releases where individual acts are unable to finance their own records.
MHK deals with World Fusion including afropop, afrofunk, ethnic sounds, experimental worldmusic and progressive hip-hop & lyrical soul.
Founded in 1999 by Kaz Kasozi, to date MHK has got 4 artists in the collective with another 3 due to join in 2007. The four artists on the books are Kaz Kasozi, Essence Kasozi, Mix Amylo and The Kraw. It should be noted that none of these artists is under exclusive contract to MHK so all rights to their work are reserved by the individual artists or on temporary license to MHK. Therefore issues concerning booking of the artists or licensing of their material should be addressed directly to the individual act in question.
"I originally set MHK up to sell my own work but I soon found out that by linking up with other artists the work could reach out further since fans of the other acts were checking out my work too. I found this advantage to be useful to all at MHK and so invite other artists to joing us." Kaz.
